Job Description

Introduction
Our client is a purpose-built, RCVS-accredited small animal practice located in Yelverton, Devon. Opened in 2010, the practice was designed to provide high-quality veterinary care in a modern, well-equipped setting and has continued to grow from strength to strength while remaining proudly independent. With a strong clinical reputation and a broad range of services, the practice offers an excellent opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon seeking a progressive and well-supported role.

Working Hours / Rota
This position is available on a full-time or part-time basis, with out-of-hours responsibilities required. The OOH rota operates on a 1:7 basis, equally shared across the veterinary team, ensuring a fair and sustainable workload.

Role Description
The successful candidate will join a busy, first-opinion small animal practice delivering a high standard of clinical care across a varied caseload. The role includes routine consultations, surgery, and involvement in more advanced procedures depending on experience and interests. The practice actively supports clinical development and encourages vets to pursue areas of special interest.

Team Size
You will be joining a 7-vet team, supported by a skilled and experienced nursing and support team, fostering a collaborative and friendly working environment.

Practice Details

The practice is exceptionally well equipped, featuring separate dog and cat waiting areas and wards to support low-stress patient handling. Facilities include multiple theatres, a dedicated dental suite, advanced imaging, and a comprehensive in-house laboratory. Clinical services offered include dermatology, laparoscopic neutering and spaying, cardiology services, ophthalmology, acupuncture, nurse-led clinics, and advanced diagnostic and surgical capabilities.

Ideal Candidate
Our client is looking for a Veterinary Surgeon with a genuine passion for small animal practice and a commitment to delivering excellent patient care. The role is suitable for both less experienced and more senior vets, with salary reflective of experience. Applicants must be comfortable participating in the out-of-hours rota and enjoy working as part of a close-knit, independent practice team.
