Job Description
Introduction
Our Client is an independently owned practice/hospital and forms part of a progressive veterinary group based on the South Coast. The group is built around strong values of clinical freedom, kindness, collaboration, and community, allowing veterinary professionals to deliver personalised, high-quality care while feeling genuinely supported. This role is based at a busy branch clinic in Worthing, working closely with internal hospitals, night teams, and a dedicated referral service to deliver seamless 24/7 care.
Working Hours / Rota
This role is based on a four-day working week with 10-hour shifts, totalling 40 hours per week. Shift times vary between 7:30am and 7:30pm and include a one-hour lunch break. The weekend and Bank Holiday rota is shared equally on a one in six basis, with two days off in lieu for any weekends worked, supporting a sustainable work-life balance.
Role Description
The Veterinary Surgeon will work as a General Practice clinician within a busy branch clinic, delivering high-quality first-opinion care to a varied small animal caseload. You will collaborate closely with hospital teams, night services, and internal referral colleagues to ensure continuity of care across all levels. The role offers true clinical freedom, encouraging vets to practise medicine aligned with their values while developing skills and clinical interests in a supportive, team-oriented environment.
Team Size
You will work as part of a close-knit branch team while being fully supported by a wider veterinary group, including hospital clinicians, night teams, and advanced practitioners. Collaboration and shared learning are central to the culture, ensuring strong professional support at all times.
Practice Details
The branch clinic offers a warm, welcoming, and thoughtfully designed environment that prioritises patient comfort and client experience. The wider group includes dedicated emergency and referral services, enabling access to advanced diagnostics and specialist support when required. This integrated structure allows branch clinicians to focus on delivering exceptional GP care with confidence and autonomy.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Veterinary Surgeon (MRCVS) with at least two to three years of UK small animal general practice experience. You will be enthusiastic about clinical development, committed to excellent patient and client care, and aligned with values of humility, respect, empathy, communication, and teamwork. A positive, collaborative approach and passion for continuous improvement are essential.
