Job Description

Introduction
Our Client is an independently owned small animal practice in Northamptonshire, offering vets the time, support and facilities to deliver high-quality care.
The practice prioritises continuity, realistic caseloads and long-term relationships with clients and patients.

Working Hours / Rota
The role can be worked across four or five days, with most vets choosing four. Shifts are a mix of 8:00am–7:00pm, 8:00am–5:00pm and 8:00am–4:00pm.
Weekend duties are shared on a one-in-four basis, covering Saturday 9:00am–3:00pm and Sunday 10:00am–3:00pm. There are no OOH duties or overnight inpatient responsibilities.

Role Description
The role includes a varied first-opinion caseload across consultations, medicine and surgery, with a strong focus on case continuity and clinical ownership.
There is scope to develop surgical skills, pursue a certificate or build a clinical interest, supported by funded CPD, mentorship and regular development meetings.

Team Size
The team includes five Veterinary Surgeons, four RVNs, one SVN, two VCAs and an experienced client care team.
The team has interests across surgery, medicine, imaging, anaesthesia and emergency and critical care, with a strong culture of shared learning.

Practice Details & Equipment
The modern practice has separate cat and dog waiting areas, air conditioning, underfloor heating and expanded inpatient facilities.
Equipment includes digital and dental radiography, ultrasound, an in-house laboratory, dedicated surgical facilities and laparoscopy. Further investment is planned, including rhinoscopy, gastroscopy and a new purpose-built clinic in 2027.

Ideal Candidate
The practice is seeking a Veterinary Surgeon with at least 18 months of experience who is confident managing a varied small animal caseload.
The ideal candidate will be collaborative, motivated to develop clinically and committed to delivering personalised care. Certificate holders are also encouraged to apply.
