Job Description
Introduction
Our Client’s practice is a long-established and highly respected small animal practice, serving the local community for over 30 years across two modern sites. The practice combines a strong reputation for compassionate, high-quality care with a supportive and collaborative team culture, offering an excellent environment for continued professional growth.
Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week across 4 days. The rota includes 1 in 3 Saturday mornings only, with no out-of-hours requirements. The structure provides a strong work-life balance while maintaining clinical variety throughout the week.
Role Description
This is a varied first opinion Veterinary Surgeon role offering a balanced caseload. Your week will typically include a mix of surgery, consultations, and combined duties, with flexibility to tailor this balance to suit your clinical interests.
You will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care, managing cases from consultation through to treatment, and building strong, long-term client relationships. The role encourages clinical development and supports individual interests, making it ideal for a vet looking to grow their skills in a supportive environment.
You will work closely with an experienced team, contributing to case discussions and maintaining high clinical standards, while benefiting from access to a wider network of practices for additional support and knowledge sharing.
Team Size
The team consists of 4 experienced Veterinary Surgeons, 1 new graduate vet, a dedicated nursing team trained in Schedule 3 procedures, and a friendly front-of-house team, all working collaboratively in a supportive and sociable environment.
Practice Details
This is a well-equipped, recently renovated small animal practice operating across two sites, offering modern, spacious facilities. The practice holds multiple accreditations including Cat-Friendly Silver status, Silver RWAF, Dog Friendly status, and Investors in the Environment (iiE) Green accreditation. It benefits from strong links within a wider veterinary network, providing access to additional facilities, specialist support, and shared CPD opportunities. The practice is committed to high clinical standards, continuous development, and maintaining strong client relationships within the community.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a small animal Veterinary Surgeon with at least 2 years’ experience in general practice and confident in routine primary care duties. You will enjoy a varied caseload and be keen to continue developing your clinical skills. A collaborative team approach, strong communication skills, and a passion for delivering high standards of patient and client care are essential. You will also be RCVS registered and have completed VetGDP.
