Job Description

Introduction
Our Client is an independent, family-owned practice seeking a Small Animal Vet to join their well-established and genuinely supportive team. This close-knit practice values collaboration, compassion, and professional growth, with a strong emphasis on teamwork and maintaining a friendly, open culture.

Rota Details
The role is full-time across four days per week, with just 1 in 4 Saturdays (9 am–4 pm). Shifts start between 8–9 am and finish between 5–7:30 pm, with only one late finish per week. There are no out-of-hours responsibilities, as these are fully covered by a nearby 24-hour hospital. The practice is open to flexible working arrangements and can offer relocation support if needed.

Information About the Practice
The practice is home to a team of three experienced vets, five RVNs, three receptionists, a dedicated Practice Administrator, and behind-the-scenes support with insurance and accounts. Led by hands-on owners who work closely with the team, the practice prides itself on a collaborative and down-to-earth culture. Clients are friendly, the caseload is varied, and clinical decisions are made in-house without corporate oversight.

Description of the Role
The incoming vet will take on a mix of consultations and surgeries, working with a well-organised diary that includes dedicated admin time and extended appointments for cases that need it. Euthanasias and dermatology consults are scheduled for 30 minutes to allow proper time with clients. There is a strong focus on supporting clients through all stages of pet ownership with empathy and care.

The Ideal Candidate
The team is looking for a vet with a few years’ experience and confidence in routine surgery, who values honesty, proactive communication, and patient-focused care. A collaborative mindset is essential, and a genuine appreciation for the GP vet role is encouraged. Candidates should live within a 40-minute commute or be willing to relocate nearby.

Practice Equipment List
The practice is well-equipped with a full diagnostic suite, including ultrasound, dental and surgical facilities, and access to a comprehensive in-house library as well as the RCVS Knowledge Electronic Library. Ongoing learning is embedded in the culture, with fortnightly team meetings and an open-door approach to case discussion.

Any Other Details
The practice also provides relocation support for candidates moving into the area.
