Job Description

Introduction

Our client practice is seeking a confident and forward-thinking Veterinary Surgeon to join their experienced six-vet team in a dynamic role that offers genuine scope to make an impact. This is a full-time opportunity ideal for a veterinary surgeon with at least three years of UK small animal experience, who enjoys a balance of consulting and surgery and is ready to help shape the future of a well-regarded community practice.

Located in a vibrant suburban area with excellent transport links to Manchester, Liverpool, the Lake District, and beautiful local countryside, this position offers variety both professionally and personally.

Working Hours / Rota
The role is based on a four-day working week with no out-of-hours requirements, plus a fair share of weekend cover (1 in 3 Saturdays or 1 in 6 full weekends). Flexible working arrangements can be discussed to support work-life balance.

Role Description
This is a hands-on role for a Veterinary Surgeon looking for autonomy, clinical variety, and the chance to influence and mentor within a busy, community-loved clinic. You will deliver exceptional clinical care to patients during consultations and procedures, prepare accurate treatment plans with clear cost estimates, and ensure high standards of regulatory and operational compliance.

You will also play a key role in supporting and mentoring less experienced colleagues, sharing best practice, and contributing to the clinical progression of the team. There’s a genuine opportunity to help shape and develop the practice’s next chapter in both its environment and clinical direction.

Team Size
You will join a six-vet team that includes a three-times surgery certificate holder, working closely with skilled nurses, client care colleagues, and a dedicated Practice Manager. The clinic has strong links with a nearby 24-hour hospital and surrounding branches, enabling close clinical collaboration and internal referrals for more complex cases.

Practice Details
The practice is well-equipped to offer a wide range of surgical and diagnostic services, including laparoscopy, endoscopy, TTA kit, patella luxation equipment, quality ultrasound, digital and dental x-ray, capnography, and ventilators. While the building itself has a traditional, rustic charm, this provides a unique opportunity to be part of shaping and improving the practice environment, leaving a lasting impact as the practice evolves.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be an RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon with a minimum of three years of UK small animal practice experience. They will have a strong clinical foundation, excellent communication skills, and the confidence to help guide newer graduates. A collaborative approach, enthusiasm for both consulting and surgery, and the ability to influence clinical culture positively are essential. This role will suit someone who wants to take ownership, mentor others, and help shape the future of the practice.
