Job Description
Introduction
Our Client’s practice in Pontefract is seeking an experienced and driven Lead Veterinary Surgeon to join their team at a busy, well-equipped small animal practice, supported by a nearby 24-hour hospital just 20 minutes away.
Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time role of 40 hours over 4 days per week, with a 1 in 6 weekend rota at the nearby 24-hour hospital. Flexible options including part-time work can also be discussed.
Role Description
This leadership role involves delivering high-quality clinical care, mentoring the veterinary team, and driving both clinical and commercial performance. You will manage consultations, procedures, and treatment planning while collaborating with the Practice Manager to enhance operational success.
Team Size
You will lead a team in a small, busy practice with support from a wider regional network, including a 24-hour hospital at Dearne Valley for enhanced care and out-of-hours support.
Practice Details
The clinic includes three consult rooms, a surgical theatre, an X-ray room, and a dedicated dental room. Equipment includes digital X-ray, ultrasound, and in-house lab with modern analysers. External lab services are also available.
Ideal Candidate
You must be an RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon with strong clinical leadership skills, commercial awareness, and the ability to foster a positive, progressive culture. A team-oriented approach and the ability to coach and mentor colleagues are essential.
