Job Description

Introduction

Our Client’s practice is a corporately owned small animal surgery seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join a friendly and close-knit team in Nottinghamshire. Led by a highly experienced Practice Owner, this well-established practice offers a supportive working environment, modern facilities, and a strong presence within the local community.

Working Hours / Rota

This is a full-time Veterinary Surgeon role working 40 hours per week. The rota includes participation in a one in four Saturday morning rota, working from 9am to 12pm. There are no out-of-hours commitments, supporting an excellent work–life balance.

Role Description

This role is ideally suited to an experienced Veterinary Surgeon with a strong surgical bias who enjoys working cases up thoroughly and delivering high-quality clinical care. You will be confident performing a wide range of surgical procedures and will ideally have some exposure to emergency and critical care work. A key part of the role involves mentoring and supporting junior Veterinary Surgeons, helping to foster a collaborative and progressive clinical team. The practice actively encourages case development and ongoing professional growth, with excellent support available for further qualifications and certificates.

Team Size

You will be joining a well-established and supportive team consisting of 3.5 Veterinary Surgeons, three Nurses, two Veterinary Care Assistants, and four Receptionists, all working closely together to deliver outstanding patient and client care.

Practice Details

The practice is a bright, air-conditioned, purpose-built surgery equipped to high clinical standards. It benefits from modern diagnostic and surgical facilities and is located in the heart of the local community, close to the canal and nearby shops. Excellent transport links are available, with the practice situated just 10 minutes from the M1 and only five minutes from Nottingham city centre.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Veterinary Surgeon with strong surgical skills and the confidence to manage more complex cases. They will enjoy mentoring and supporting colleagues, communicate clearly and effectively, and contribute positively to team culture. A proactive approach to clinical development and a commitment to maintaining high standards of care are essential for success in this role.
