Job Description
My client is a small animal veterinary practice in Northamptonshire that is looking for a Locum Veterinary Surgeon to provide ongoing maternity cover from approximately the 4th January 2027 through to the middle of the year.
This is a full-time, long-term locum opportunity, with the successful candidate joining the practice’s existing veterinary rota and providing continuity of care throughout the maternity cover period.
The position involves approximately 37 hours per week over 4–5 days, alongside a 1 in 4 weekend rota. The practice plans its rota three months in advance to accommodate annual leave requests and other team requirements, meaning that days off may vary from week to week.
The practice is open from 8:00am to 7:00pm Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 3:00pm on Saturdays and 10:00am to 3:00pm on Sundays.
There are no out-of-hours or on-call requirements associated with this position.
The role involves a varied first-opinion small animal caseload, including both consultations and routine surgical procedures. The practice is looking for a confident GP Veterinary Surgeon who is comfortable managing their own clinical caseload and providing a consistent level of care throughout the booking.
The hourly or daily rate will be discussed depending on the individual locum, and the practice is happy to consider all payment methods.
Accommodation can also be arranged locally if required, making this an opportunity for Veterinary Surgeons who may be looking to work away from home for an extended period.
