Job Description

Introduction
Our Client is a corporately owned small animal practice in Newcastle-under-Lyme looking for a Veterinary Surgeon to join its friendly and established team. This is a varied GP position offering a mixture of consulting, medicine and surgery, with the successful candidate working across two nearby practices.

Working Hours / Rota
This is a permanent, full-time position working 40 hours per week, with three days based in Newcastle-under-Lyme and one day per week at a nearby Stoke-on-Trent practice.

The role includes one to two sole-charge days per week, with experienced clinical support available nearby when required. A future 1:3 Saturday rota from 9am–2pm will also form part of the position.

Role Description
The successful Veterinary Surgeon will manage a varied first-opinion caseload covering consultations, medical cases, diagnostics and routine surgery. The role provides a balance between collaborative team working and clinical autonomy, including the opportunity to independently manage routine cases during sole-charge days.

There is excellent scope to develop individual clinical interests, with funded certificates, internal CPD, wider clinical communities and access to additional support from 24-hour hospitals.

Team Size
The successful candidate will work across two established veterinary teams in Newcastle-under-Lyme and Stoke-on-Trent. Specific team numbers have not been provided, although experienced clinical support is available locally during periods of sole-charge working.

Practice Details & Equipment
Both practices are equipped to support a varied GP caseload, with facilities including digital X-ray, ultrasound, in-house laboratory equipment and dedicated preparation and theatre areas.

The wider group also provides access to additional clinical communities, training resources and 24-hour hospital support.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a qualified MRCVS who is confident managing a varied GP caseload across consultations, medicine and routine surgery. As the position includes one to two sole-charge days each week, candidates should be comfortable independently managing consultations and routine surgical procedures.

Strong communication and teamwork skills are important, alongside a commitment to high standards of patient and client care and an interest in continued clinical development.
