Job Description
Introduction
Our Client is a non-profit, community-focused veterinary practice in Failsworth seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join its friendly and supportive team. This is an excellent opportunity for a Vet with around 2–3 years’ experience who enjoys variety and wants exposure to an engaging medical, surgical and orthopaedic caseload.
Working Hours / Rota
The position is available on a 38–40 hour contract across four days per week, with shifts covering the practice’s opening hours between 8am and 7pm. Saturday duties are shared on a 2:9 rota. No specific out-of-hours requirements have been provided.
Role Description
The successful Veterinary Surgeon will manage a varied first opinion caseload spanning medicine, surgery and orthopaedics. The role provides excellent opportunities to develop clinical skills, work up cases and gain experience alongside a growing team of certificate holders.
Ongoing development is strongly supported through funded CPD and certificate opportunities, making this particularly suited to a clinician looking to build their experience and develop further areas of interest.
Team Size
The successful candidate will join a growing and collaborative clinical team that includes several certificate holders, providing access to additional experience, knowledge sharing and clinical support. Specific team numbers have not been provided.
Practice Details & Equipment
The practice is well equipped to manage a busy and varied caseload, with three operating theatres, X-ray facilities, a dedicated dental suite and seven consulting rooms. Separate dog and cat wards are also available to help provide a comfortable environment for hospitalised patients.
The caseload spans medical, surgical and orthopaedic cases, providing excellent clinical variety and development opportunities.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be an MRCVS Veterinary Surgeon with approximately 2–3 years of experience who is confident managing a varied first opinion caseload. They should enjoy a busy clinical environment and be keen to continue developing their medical and surgical capabilities.
Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential, alongside a commitment to delivering excellent patient care and contributing positively to a collaborative clinical environment.
