Job Description
Introduction
Our Client is a corporately owned small animal practice on the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire border looking for a Veterinary Surgeon to join its friendly and collaborative team. The practice offers a varied first-opinion caseload, excellent clinical facilities and a supportive environment with both Practice Partners working onsite.
Working Hours / Rota
This role is available on a full-time or part-time basis. Full-time hours are 40 hours per week across 3.5 days, with flexibility around the working pattern.
Saturday duties are shared on a 1:3 rota from 9am–4pm, with minimal sole-charge working and no out-of-hours duties.
Role Description
The successful Veterinary Surgeon will manage a varied first-opinion caseload covering consultations, medical work-ups and routine surgery. The role offers plenty of opportunity for case development while working alongside an experienced clinical team.
Continued professional development is strongly supported, with a generous CPD allowance, certificate funding and opportunities for longer-term career progression.
Team Size
The team consists of three full-time Veterinary Surgeons, six Registered Veterinary Nurses and four Client Care Advisors, supported by two Practice Partners who both work onsite and remain actively involved in supporting the team, clients and practice.
Practice Details & Equipment
The bright, air-conditioned and purpose-built practice is equipped with dental and digital X-ray, ultrasound, multiparameter anaesthetic monitoring, a physio-grade laser and an in-house laboratory. The team also works alongside a veterinary physiotherapist.
The practice benefits from excellent transport links, with convenient access to the M1, nearby rail connections and East Midlands Airport.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have at least 18 months of small animal veterinary experience, with sound medical and surgical skills and the confidence to manage their own cases.
Strong client communication skills and a collaborative approach are important, alongside an interest in continuing to develop clinically within a supportive practice environment.
