Job Description

Introduction
Our Client is a corporately owned small animal practice in Hinckley looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join its busy and supportive team. The practice offers a varied caseload, including opportunities to develop interests in orthopaedics and exotics, alongside excellent clinical support and modern facilities.

Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week on a rota basis. Bank holiday duties are shared equally, typically covering three to four per year.

There are no out-of-hours duties and no sole-charge working.

Role Description
The successful Veterinary Surgeon will manage a varied first-opinion caseload and should be confident with routine medical and surgical cases. The practice has a high caseload, providing plenty of opportunity for continued case development and progression.

An interest in orthopaedics would be advantageous but is not essential, with a qualified physiotherapist supporting orthopaedic cases and a Veterinary Surgeon currently undertaking a Soft Tissue Surgery Certificate. The practice also sees exotic patients, with dedicated equipment and CPD support available for anyone interested in developing their skills in this area.

The role also includes the opportunity to provide home visits using the practice’s dedicated vehicle.

Team Size
The friendly clinical team consists of five Veterinary Surgeons, seven nurses, Student Veterinary Nurses and two Animal Care Assistants. The practice offers a collaborative environment with good clinical support and no requirement for sole-charge working.

Practice Details & Equipment
The modern and spacious practice has a high small animal caseload and is equipped with digital X-ray, ultrasound, an in-house laboratory, ultrasonic laser, suction equipment and multiparameter monitoring. Dedicated exotic equipment is also available.

The practice benefits from free onsite parking, excellent motorway access and a nearby train station, providing convenient connections to surrounding cities and major transport links.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Veterinary Surgeon who is confident managing routine surgical and medical cases and enjoys the variety of a busy first-opinion environment.

They should have strong communication skills and be comfortable building relationships with clients, patients and colleagues. An interest in orthopaedics or exotics would be welcomed but is not essential, with support available to develop these areas further.
