Our client is excited to offer a fantastic part-time opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon to join their welcoming and collaborative teams across two practices based in Buxton and New Mills, set in the heart of Derbyshire’s stunning countryside. This role provides an excellent balance of independence and support, with the chance to take ownership of your cases in a growing branch while still enjoying the facilities and team spirit of a larger, well-established practice.

Working Hours / Rota
This is a part-time role, working 28 hours across 4 days between 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. There are no regular weekends, out-of-hours, or bank holiday commitments, making this an excellent opportunity for someone seeking a healthier work-life balance.

Role Description
The role will primarily be based at the Buxton branch, currently open two days a week with exciting plans to expand to four days as the team grows. You will work in a one-vet, one-nurse set-up, taking real ownership of your cases and building long-lasting client relationships. Typical days will include morning consultations followed by surgical procedures such as neutering, dentals or lump removals, with afternoon consults thereafter. You’ll also spend one to two days each week at the New Mills practice, a busier site with a wider caseload, full diagnostic suite, and a collaborative team. This balance provides both clinical autonomy and the support of experienced colleagues.

You will be joining a supportive network of veterinary surgeons, qualified and student nurses, client care assistants, and a dedicated practice manager. The culture across both branches is professional yet relaxed, with a genuine focus on teamwork, mutual support, and personal development.

Practice Details

Ideal Candidate
The position would suit a confident and compassionate veterinary surgeon with at least 3 years of UK experience. Sole charge capability is important, as is the ability to build long-term connections with clients and patients. Strong communication, a collaborative mindset, and the drive to deliver the highest standards of care are essential.
