Job Description

Introduction
Our Client is an independently owned practice based in Hastings that is looking to recruit an additional Veterinary Surgeon as the clinic continues to grow. This is an expansion position rather than a replacement role, offering the opportunity to join a well-established team with a broad small animal caseload and plenty of scope for further development.

Working Hours / Rota
The full-time rota is based around four 10-hour days per week, with part-time applications also considered.
Saturday mornings are currently shared on a 1 in 3 basis from 9am to 12pm for emergencies only. Once the new Veterinary Surgeon joins, this will move to a 1 in 4 rota. There are no out-of-hours or on-call duties.

Role Description
The successful Veterinary Surgeon will manage a varied small animal caseload, including consultations, diagnostics and routine surgical procedures. The practice is looking for someone who is comfortable with the fundamentals of first opinion work, particularly routine procedures, while remaining open to supporting further development in areas where additional training may be helpful.

Team Size
The current team consists of approximately 3.5 full-time equivalent Veterinary Surgeons, supported by 3 Veterinary Nurses and 4 receptionists.

Practice Details & Equipment
The practice is a small animal clinic operating from a ground-floor site of approximately 100m², with two consulting rooms and one operating theatre. Facilities include separate cat and dog wards, an in-house laboratory, diagnostic and dental imaging, and a broad range of equipment including advanced ultrasonography, Doppler ultrasound, digital and dental radiography, ECG, endoscopy, video gastroscopy, blood analysers, haematology equipment, multi-parameter monitoring, pulse oximetry and dedicated soft tissue and orthopaedic surgical facilities.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have at least two years of UK small animal experience and be confident with routine consultations, diagnostics and surgery. They should be comfortable working as part of a busy clinical team, communicate well with colleagues and clients, and be keen to continue developing their skills.

More experienced Veterinary Surgeons are also encouraged to apply, with the practice able to accommodate differing experience levels within the salary range. A willingness to learn and develop is important, and support can be provided in areas where further experience or training is required.
