Job Description

Introduction
Our Client is a corporately owned practice with a long-standing history and a strong reputation for high clinical standards and a supportive, progressive working culture. The practice operates across multiple sites and is soon relocating its main surgery to a new purpose-built facility, expanding services and introducing advanced diagnostic equipment. This is an excellent opportunity to join an experienced team during an exciting period of development and modernisation.

Working Hours / Rota
The full-time role is based on a 40-hour week, including participation in a 1 in 4 Saturday rotation with no out-of-hours requirement. Part-time applications are welcome for those seeking enhanced flexibility and a balanced working routine.

About the Practice
The practice is led by experienced Clinical Directors and a supportive Practice Manager. The veterinary team includes certificate holders across surgery, dentistry, imaging, cardiology, and minimally invasive surgery, with further nursing specialisms in medicine and anaesthesia. The wider team consists of RVNs, VCAs, and ANAs, contributing to a highly collaborative, knowledgeable, and development-focused environment. The practice offers excellent diary management to maintain a healthy balance between routine and emergency cases.

Role Description
This position is suited to a Veterinary Surgeon with at least three years’ experience who is confident with routine consultations and surgeries, and comfortable handling occasional sole charge. Daily duties include managing a varied caseload of consultations and procedures, supported by 20-minute appointment slots to ensure thorough case work-ups, effective communication, and appropriate administrative time. There is also the opportunity to take on a more senior role for those seeking progression, including mentoring less experienced colleagues and contributing to GDP advisory responsibilities.

The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be an RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon with a minimum of three years’ experience in small animal practice. Confidence in both consulting and surgical work is essential, alongside the ability to handle sole charge when required. Strong communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to work effectively within a busy, friendly team are key. Candidates interested in progression should be capable of guiding junior colleagues and approaching challenging situations with professionalism and empathy.

Practice Equipment
The practice is equipped with a range of modern diagnostic and surgical facilities, including digital and dental X-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, laparoscopy, and a CT scanner planned for the new site. This advanced equipment supports a varied caseload and enables the delivery of high standards of medical, surgical, and preventive care.
