Job Description

Introduction
Our Client is an independently owned hospital and operates as a not-for-profit Community Interest Company (CIC). They are preparing to launch a brand-new veterinary hospital in Cwmbran, serving Torfaen and the surrounding areas, with plans to open in early 2027. Operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, the hospital will provide accessible, affordable, high-quality veterinary care alongside continuous inpatient and emergency services. Their commitment to affordable veterinary medicine, including free daytime consultations, affordable out-of-hours consultations and transparent pricing, enables the team to manage a varied and rewarding caseload while delivering exceptional patient care.

Working Hours / Rota
This role follows a three-week rolling rota, averaging between 36.6 and 40.3 hours per week. Shifts are between 10 and 11 hours in length, with participation in a 1 in 3 weekend rota. As part of a 24-hour hospital, the successful candidate will focus on inpatient and emergency care.

Role Description
This is an exciting opportunity for an Inpatient & Emergency Veterinary Surgeon to join a brand-new veterinary hospital from its opening. The successful candidate will oversee the care of hospitalised patients while managing emergency cases presenting through the hospital’s Accident and Emergency service, providing an exciting and predominantly medical caseload.

The role centres on ensuring the highest standards of inpatient care, performing emergency procedures where appropriate and coordinating with the wider clinical team to deliver comprehensive treatment for patients. Working within a busy and fast-paced hospital environment, the successful candidate will play a vital role in delivering outstanding emergency and inpatient care while contributing to a collaborative and supportive team culture.

Team Size
The successful candidate will work alongside a highly skilled and experienced multidisciplinary veterinary team, collaborating closely with colleagues to provide exceptional inpatient and emergency care within a supportive hospital environment.
