Job Description

Introduction
Our Client is a corporately owned small animal practice in Northamptonshire looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join its friendly and established team. The practice is entering an exciting period of growth, with an upcoming relaunch and rebrand alongside longer-term plans to expand the practice.

Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week, including a 1:3 Saturday rota from 9am–6pm.

There are no Sunday or out-of-hours requirements, helping to provide a sustainable balance alongside the clinical responsibilities of the role.

Role Description
The successful Veterinary Surgeon will manage a varied first-opinion caseload, including consultations, diagnostics, treatment planning and routine surgery. The position offers a good level of clinical autonomy alongside the support of an experienced and collaborative team.

There is also the opportunity to take greater responsibility within the practice, including mentoring junior colleagues and helping to develop the wider team. For the right candidate, there is scope to work closely with the Practice Owner to shape clinical protocols, standards of care and the continued growth of the practice.

Team Size
The team consists of two Veterinary Surgeons, four qualified RVNs, including the Practice Owner, one Student Veterinary Nurse approaching qualification, one Veterinary Care Assistant and four Receptionists. The practice has a longstanding team and places a strong emphasis on collaboration, development and supporting colleagues to achieve their career goals.

Practice Details
The practice is a busy and fast-paced small animal surgery with a loyal and varied caseload. It is undergoing a period of development, with an upcoming relaunch and rebrand as well as plans for future expansion.

Based in a Northamptonshire town with easy access to the surrounding countryside, the practice is strongly connected to its local community and focuses on delivering high standards of patient and client care.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be an experienced and confident Veterinary Surgeon, preferably with at least two to three years’ post-qualification experience. They should be comfortable independently managing consultations, diagnostics and routine surgical procedures.

Strong communication skills, a collaborative approach and a genuine interest in contributing to the development of the practice are important. Due to the level of autonomy required, this position is not suitable for a new graduate.
