Job Description

Introduction
Our Client’s practice is a large, RCVS-accredited veterinary group based in Cornwall, offering an exceptional opportunity for a Small Animal Vet Surgeon to join a highly experienced and supportive team on a fixed-term basis. With multiple small animal and farm branches, the practice is well known for delivering outstanding patient care while maintaining an excellent team culture and work-life balance.

Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time, 12-month fixed-term maternity cover position starting around mid-April 2026. The role operates on a 4.5-day working week and must include Fridays. Participation in the Saturday rota is required, along with occasional out-of-hours inpatient care only. Working locations across local branches are negotiable.

Role Description
The role involves a full range of first-opinion small animal veterinary duties, including consultations, diagnostics, and surgery, alongside delivering excellent client care. The team works up both medical and surgical cases in-house and has strong relationships with local referral centres when needed. Certificates and clinical interests are actively encouraged, with generous CPD support available. This is a collaborative environment where vets are supported to thrive and develop.

Team Size
You will join a large and friendly clinical team consisting of nine veterinary surgeons (a mix of full-time and part-time), including certificate holders, alongside a highly skilled nursing and support team.

Practice Details
The practice operates across three small animal branches and two farm branches, all of which are well equipped and RCVS accredited. Facilities support a broad and interesting caseload, and the team benefits from strong internal collaboration and excellent referral pathways. The location offers a unique balance of coastal, countryside, and city access.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a confident, RCVS-registered Small Animal Vet Surgeon with a passion for delivering outstanding patient care. You will be a strong communicator, a genuine team player, and someone who enjoys clinical challenges. A positive attitude, collaborative mindset, and desire to contribute to a supportive team culture are essential.
