Job Description
Introduction
Our Client is an independently owned, not-for-profit veterinary hospital opening in Hull in January 2027 and is seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon with a strong surgical bias to join its new clinical team. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident surgeon to take on a predominantly surgical position within a brand-new 24/7 hospital serving Hull and the wider East Yorkshire community.
Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time position working 40 hours across four days per week, with three of those four days focused on surgery. Saturday duties are shared on a 2:9 rota, alongside a share of bank holiday duties. The hospital will operate 24/7, although specific out-of-hours requirements for this position have not been provided.
Role Description
The successful Veterinary Surgeon will work on a surgery-biased rota, with the majority of their working week dedicated to surgical cases. They will independently manage more complex soft tissue procedures while continuing to contribute to the wider clinical caseload where required.
The position also has a mentoring element, with the successful candidate supporting other Veterinary Surgeons to develop their surgical skills and confidence. The hospital’s varied caseload provides excellent opportunities for continued clinical development, supported by funded CPD.
Team Size
The successful candidate will become part of the clinical team at a brand-new hospital and will play an important role in supporting and mentoring other Veterinary Surgeons, particularly around surgical cases. Specific team numbers have not yet been provided.
Practice Details & Equipment
The brand-new Hull hospital is due to open in January 2027 and will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, providing continuous patient care and emergency services alongside its daytime veterinary provision.
The hospital’s accessible pricing model is expected to generate a broad and varied caseload, providing strong clinical exposure across both routine and more complex cases. Specific facilities and equipment have not yet been provided.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be an experienced MRCVS Veterinary Surgeon with a strong surgical bias and the confidence to independently manage more complex soft tissue procedures. They should enjoy a predominantly surgical caseload and be keen to continue developing their expertise.
Strong mentoring, communication and teamwork skills are also important, as the successful candidate will support other Veterinary Surgeons in developing their surgical capabilities and confidence.
