Job Description

Introduction
Our Client’s hospital is a busy and well-established 24/7 veterinary facility, providing both first opinion and referral care to a diverse and challenging caseload. As one of the group’s largest sites, the hospital offers a collaborative and progressive environment focused on delivering high-quality, accessible veterinary care.

Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week across a 4-day rota. The position includes a 2 in 9 weekend rotation. There are no further out-of-hours details specified beyond the hospital’s 24/7 service.

Role Description
This is a Veterinary Surgeon role offering exposure to a varied and complex caseload across both medicine and surgery. You will be responsible for delivering high standards of clinical care, managing cases from consultation through to treatment, and working collaboratively with a skilled team of clinicians.

The role provides excellent opportunities for development, including working alongside certificate holders and advanced practitioners, with regular case discussions and support for clinical progression. You will be involved in both routine and more complex cases, including orthopaedic procedures and inpatient care.

Team Size
You will be part of a large, collaborative team including experienced veterinary surgeons, certificate holders, advanced practitioners, and a strong nursing and support team.

Practice Details
The hospital is a well-equipped, modern facility featuring 8 consulting rooms, 3 operating theatres, a dedicated X-ray and dental suite, and an on-site CT scanner. It also includes separate dog and cat wards, along with a specialised ICU ward for intensive patient care. The practice supports both first opinion and referral services, providing a broad and engaging caseload within a supportive clinical environment.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Veterinary Surgeon with a passion for delivering high-quality patient care. You will be confident managing a varied caseload and enjoy working within a collaborative team environment. Strong communication skills, a proactive approach, and an interest in clinical development are essential, along with alignment to a not-for-profit ethos focused on accessibility and patient welfare.
