Our Client is an independently owned hospital and operates as a not-for-profit Community Interest Company (CIC). They are seeking a Veterinary Surgeon with a keen interest in diagnostic imaging to join their 24-hour Bolton Hospital. The role combines advanced imaging with first opinion practice, offering an excellent opportunity to develop imaging expertise while maintaining a varied medical and surgical caseload. As the UK’s only veterinary Community Interest Company, the organisation is committed to providing accessible, affordable, high-quality veterinary care while prioritising patient welfare over profit.

Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week over a four-day week. The role is split evenly, with two days dedicated to diagnostic imaging and two days spent consulting and managing first opinion cases.

Role Description
This is an exciting opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon with a strong interest in diagnostic imaging to combine advanced diagnostic work with first opinion veterinary medicine. The successful candidate will play a key role in diagnosing and managing complex cases using advanced imaging modalities, with a primary focus on ultrasound, digital radiography and computed tomography.

Alongside imaging responsibilities, the role includes participation in the general medical and surgical first opinion caseload, allowing the successful candidate to maintain a broad clinical skill set. Applicants should be confident performing abdominal ultrasound examinations and interpreting radiographs. A Certificate in Diagnostic Imaging, or a desire to work towards one, would be advantageous but is not essential.

Team Size
The successful candidate will work alongside a highly skilled multidisciplinary team of Veterinary Surgeons, Registered Veterinary Nurses and support staff within a collaborative 24-hour hospital environment, benefiting from strong clinical support across both first opinion and referral services.

The Bolton Hospital is a modern 24-hour veterinary hospital providing affordable first opinion, emergency and referral services. The hospital operates around the clock, supported by a dedicated Accident and Emergency department and an experienced clinical team managing a varied and rewarding caseload.

The hospital performs referral surgical procedures alongside first opinion consultations, creating an excellent environment for Veterinary Surgeons looking to expand their diagnostic imaging skills while remaining actively involved in general practice. Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a confident Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon with a strong interest in diagnostic imaging and a solid grounding in first opinion practice. Applicants should be comfortable performing abdominal ultrasound examinations and interpreting diagnostic radiographs while enjoying a varied caseload across medicine and surgery.

Candidates working towards, or already holding, a Certificate in Diagnostic Imaging are encouraged to apply, although this is not essential. The successful applicant will share the organisation’s commitment to accessible veterinary care, enjoy working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and be dedicated to delivering exceptional patient outcomes.
