Job Description
Introduction
Our client practice in Alfreton is seeking a Veterinary Surgeon to join their large, friendly, and highly skilled team. This is an opportunity to work in a collaborative environment with ten vets, a head nurse, twelve nurses, and five receptionists, all committed to delivering exceptional care to clients and patients. Many of the veterinary team hold or are working towards certificates in dermatology, surgery, internal medicine, ophthalmology, and emergency & critical care, offering excellent opportunities for professional development.
Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time, 12-month fixed-term role, though part-time applications are welcome. The practice is open to flexibility, enabling you to shape your hours to suit your lifestyle and commitments while maintaining a supportive, team-oriented working environment.
Role Description
As a Veterinary Surgeon, you will be responsible for delivering outstanding clinical care across consultations and procedures, preparing accurate treatment plans, and keeping clients well informed. You will work closely with a strong nursing and veterinary team to ensure a high standard of care, while actively contributing to a positive, collaborative culture. The practice encourages professional growth through access to clinical communities, CPD, and funded certificate opportunities.
Team Size
You will be part of a large team, including ten vets, a head nurse, twelve nurses, and five receptionists, all working in harmony to provide gold-standard care and a supportive working environment.
Practice Details
The practice is purpose-built with six consult rooms, separate dog and cat wards, three sterile theatres, dedicated diagnostic suites, dental facilities, digital X-ray, and staff areas. The hospital combines modern, state-of-the-art facilities with a culture of high standards and personal care for patients and clients alike.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is an RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon with experience delivering exceptional patient care, confident working within a team, and capable of supporting nurse consults and schedule 3 procedures. Strong communication, leadership, and clinical mentoring skills are highly desirable, along with a proactive approach to contributing to the practice’s progressive clinical culture.
