Job Description

Introduction
Our Client has a fantastic opportunity for a Registered Veterinary Surgeon to join their purpose-built practice in Bucksburn, Aberdeen, on a fixed-term maternity cover contract.

The clinic is well-established, having opened in 2006, and has recently undergone refurbishment. The team is committed to providing compassionate, tailored companion animal medical and surgical care to the local community, with kindness and empathy at the heart of every case.

Working Hours / Rota
This is an 18-month fixed-term contract anticipated to start March/April 2026.

Full-time or part-time hours are available, up to 40 hours per week, with flexibility considered to support work–life balance.

Shifts are Monday to Friday between 8:00am and 7:00pm, with 1 in 4 Saturdays.

There are no out-of-hours requirements, as OOH is covered by a local provider.

Role Description
You will deliver high-quality consultations and routine surgical procedures, working collaboratively within a supportive team environment.

The practice promotes client involvement in decision-making and values contextualised, patient-focused care. You will be encouraged to pursue clinical interests and further CPD, with strong internal support for professional development.

Team Size
You will join a collaborative and experienced team of 5 Veterinary Surgeons, 6 Registered Veterinary Nurses, 1 Animal Care Assistant and 3 Receptionists.

The team includes a surgical certificate holder and a Veterinary Surgeon currently working towards a medicine certificate, fostering a culture of learning and progression.

Practice Details
The purpose-built practice provides comprehensive companion animal care and has recently undergone refurbishment. Facilities are designed to support both medical and surgical case workups to a high standard.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a Registered Veterinary Surgeon who is enthusiastic and motivated to take the next step in their career.
