Job Description

Introduction
Our Client is a dedicated and well-established small animal orthopaedic referral centre located near Horsham, West Sussex. They are seeking a Specialist Orthopaedic Surgeon to join their highly skilled and close-knit referral team.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a surgeon who is passionate about orthopaedics and committed to delivering the highest standards of surgical and patient care in a purpose-built, state-of-the-art facility.

Working Hours / Rota
This is a permanent position available on a full-time or part-time basis, with particular interest in candidates seeking two to three working days per week. The out-of-hours rota is shared equally among the surgical team and is described as light, as the practice does not operate overnight.

Role Description
The successful candidate will be a key member of the orthopaedic referral team, contributing to the continued excellence and growth of the service. They will perform advanced orthopaedic procedures including, but not limited to, total hip replacement, TPLO, CUE, and arthroscopy, supported by excellent facilities and a dedicated nursing and theatre team.

Responsibilities include leading complex surgical cases, maintaining strong relationships with referring veterinary practices, and providing guidance and mentorship to colleagues within the team. A commitment to collaborative working, clinical integrity, and exceptional communication is essential.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a respected, specialist-led service with a strong reputation for quality care, teamwork, and client satisfaction.

Team Size
The current veterinary team includes an RCVS Specialist in Small Animal Surgery, a residency-trained Veterinary Surgeon, an RCVS Advanced Practitioner, and an Orthopaedic Intern, supported by a dedicated team of nurses and administrative staff.

Practice Details
The Clinic operates from a recently refurbished, purpose-designed facility set in a beautiful rural location. The practice is equipped with three fully fitted operating theatres and an on-site CT scanner. The hospital is fully equipped to perform an extensive range of advanced orthopaedic procedures, including total hip replacement, TPLO, CUE, and arthroscopy.

The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will hold a veterinary qualification recognised by the RCVS, allowing practice within the UK, and will ideally be an RCVS, ECVS, or ACVS Diplomate in Small Animal Surgery (Orthopaedics). They should possess enthusiasm for orthopaedic surgery, excellent clinical and communication skills, and the motivation to work within a collaborative, specialist-led team.

A genuine passion for continuous improvement and client care is key, alongside the ability to maintain composure and precision in a busy referral environment.
