Job Description

Introduction
Our Client’s hospital is a well-established, high-performing veterinary hospital providing first opinion, emergency, critical care, and referral services. The hospital operates to the highest clinical standards and offers a dynamic and supportive environment, making it an excellent opportunity for a Registered Veterinary Nurse looking to develop their skills within a busy and progressive setting.

Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time, 12-month maternity cover role working Monday to Friday. The rota includes a 1:5 weekend rotation with time off in lieu and up to 2 bank holidays per year. There are no on-call requirements.

Role Description
This is a varied hospital nursing role suited to an RVN or soon-to-qualify student who enjoys a fast-paced environment and is passionate about delivering exceptional patient care. You will be involved across all areas of hospital nursing, including wards, theatre, and consults, assisting veterinary surgeons with procedures and patient management.

Responsibilities include maintaining accurate clinical records, supporting patient care from admission to discharge, ensuring equipment is properly maintained and sterilised, and delivering clear communication to clients. You will also play a key role in mentoring trainee nurses and helping to uphold high clinical standards across the hospital.

This role offers excellent exposure to a wide range of cases and is ideal for those looking to develop or enhance their ECC and hospital nursing skills.

Team Size
You will be supported by a large and experienced clinical team, including a dedicated nursing team, deputy head nurse, head nurse, head vet, and hospital manager, alongside a strong front-of-house support team.

Practice Details
The hospital is a state-of-the-art facility offering a comprehensive range of services, including first opinion, emergency, critical care, and referral work. It is equipped with advanced diagnostic tools and supported by a highly skilled clinical team, including a diploma holder in imaging. The hospital regularly handles complex cases, with experienced surgeons performing advanced orthopaedic, soft tissue, and minimally invasive procedures. Its excellent location provides strong transport links, making it easily accessible for commuting.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a Registered Veterinary Nurse or soon-to-qualify student with a passion for hospital nursing and delivering high standards of patient care. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate strong teamwork and communication skills, and be eager to develop your clinical abilities. Experience in a busy practice or hospital setting would be beneficial, along with an interest in ECC. A proactive attitude and willingness to support and mentor trainee nurses will be highly valued.
