Job Description

Introduction

Our Client practice is a proudly independent small animal practice situated in a lovely rural location, offering a calm, professional, and supportive working environment. With a strong reputation for client care and clinical excellence, this is a fantastic opportunity for a Registered Veterinary Nurse who is looking to make a genuine impact within a close-knit and values-led team.

Working Hours / Rota

This is a permanent position with both full-time and part-time hours considered. Weekday consulting hours finish at 5:30pm, and there is no Saturday surgery. The out-of-hours rota includes one night per week and approximately one weekend in five. Out-of-hours duties are relatively quiet, with an average of 1–2 calls per week, and busier weekends. Full-time staff receive one paid day off per month to compensate for weekend OOH work.

Role Description

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality nursing care within a supportive environment where your voice and input are truly valued. Duties will include inpatient care, assisting with surgical procedures, supporting consultations, and contributing to the smooth daily operation of the practice. This is an ideal opportunity for an RVN who thrives in a patient-focused setting and enjoys working with a team that values professionalism and warmth in equal measure.

Team Size

The team is known for its welcoming and collaborative culture. Staff retention is high, and every team member plays an important part in the practice’s continued success. The stability of the client base—having closed their books over seven years ago—is a testament to the trust and long-term relationships built by the team.

Practice Details

This first-opinion practice is located in a peaceful rural area and benefits from a loyal and respectful client base. The practice is well-equipped to manage a varied caseload and has developed a reputation for delivering exceptional care. By handling their own out-of-hours service, the team maintains continuity and trust with clients, though OOH workload is minimal and well managed.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be a qualified Registered Veterinary Nurse who is passionate about patient care and keen to be part of a warm, inclusive team. Excellent communication skills, a team-oriented mindset, and a willingness to be involved in all aspects of the practice are essential. Experience handling OOH duties is helpful but not required, as full support is provided.
