Job Description
Introduction
Our Client is an independently run practice within a larger veterinary group, offering a supportive and friendly working environment where professional development and high standards of patient care are strongly encouraged. The practice has built a positive team culture with excellent staff retention, providing continuity for both clients and colleagues.
Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week, with current shifts of 8:30am–4:30pm and 11am–7pm. There is also the option to work four longer days per week if preferred.
Saturday duties are shared on a 1:4 rota with time off in lieu. There are no out-of-hours duties or overnight inpatient checks.
Role Description
The practice is looking for a Registered Veterinary Nurse with a particular interest in theatre and surgical nursing. With one of the Veterinary Surgeons recently completing a Surgery Certificate, the successful RVN will have plenty of opportunity to be involved in anaesthesia monitoring, assisting with surgical procedures and ensuring theatre days run efficiently.
Alongside the surgical focus, the position will involve general nursing responsibilities and client care. CPD and further certificates are actively encouraged, making this a strong opportunity for an RVN looking to continue developing their clinical skills.
Team Size
The nursing team consists of five RVNs who enjoy a busy and varied caseload, supported by six receptionists and an experienced veterinary team. The practice promotes a collaborative environment where colleagues support one another’s development and career goals.
Practice Details
The practice provides modern small animal veterinary care with a strong focus on delivering excellent clinical standards and customer service within the local community. The team has developed a positive working culture centred around staff wellbeing, professional development and continuity of care.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a Registered Veterinary Nurse with good general nursing experience and a genuine interest in surgical and theatre-based nursing. They should be comfortable monitoring anaesthetics, supporting surgical procedures and helping manage a busy theatre environment.
Strong customer service and communication skills are also important, alongside a cheerful, down-to-earth and enthusiastic approach and a genuine commitment to animal welfare.
