Job Description
Introduction
Our Client is a corporately owned practice/hospital and operates a popular first-opinion small animal GP clinic located in a riverside village in Southwest London. Set close to the River Thames and surrounded by a vibrant village-style community, the practice has an established and loyal client base. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse to step into a Senior role and work closely with a newly appointed Senior Veterinary Surgeon to help lead and develop the practice.
Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week, with the option to work across four days. The rota includes one in four branch Saturdays and one in ten Sundays worked at a nearby 24-hour hospital, along with one Bank Holiday per year at the hospital site. There are no on-call requirements associated with this role, supporting a strong work-life balance.
Role Description
As Senior Registered Veterinary Nurse, you will work closely with the Senior Veterinary Surgeon to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the practice. Responsibilities include leadership of the nursing and reception teams, diary management, equipment maintenance, utilisation of Schedule 3 skills, controlled drug audits, and maintaining high standards of patient welfare and client care. You will also assist in theatre and consultations, manage reception operations, and support student nurses in a clinical supervisor capacity. Leadership training is provided to support your transition into this senior position.
Team Size
You will join a close-knit team consisting of a Senior Veterinary Surgeon, an Associate Veterinary Surgeon, and an experienced and engaged clinical support team. The practice benefits from full support from a dedicated regional manager and close collaboration with a nearby 24-hour hospital.
Practice Details
The practice is a well-established first-opinion GP clinic with a strong local reputation and an insured client base. Out-of-hours care is provided by a nearby 24-hour hospital offering advanced facilities and specialist support. The location offers a true London village atmosphere with excellent transport links, combining lifestyle appeal with a rewarding clinical role.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a confident and experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse ready to step into a Senior position. You will be organised, proactive, and passionate about maintaining high clinical and client care standards. Previous leadership experience is beneficial but not essential, as full leadership training will be provided. Strong communication skills, a supportive leadership style, and enthusiasm for team development are essential.
