Introduction
Our Client is a corporately owned veterinary practice in Hyde Park, Greater London seeking a Head Veterinary Nurse to play a key role in establishing and developing the day-to-day running of the clinic. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious RVN who wants genuine influence over nursing standards, processes, nurse-led services and the future development of a practice.

Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time position working 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday, across either four or five days. Weekend duties consist of 1:6 full weekends at a nearby 24-hour hospital in Kensington, covering both Saturday and Sunday. The role also includes two bank holidays per year and approximately 2–3 weeks of on-call duties supporting the hospital’s night team during periods of increased caseload.

Role Description
The successful Head Veterinary Nurse will combine hands-on clinical nursing with leadership and responsibility for helping establish the practice’s day-to-day processes. They will support surgical procedures, diagnostics and inpatient care while leading nurse-led appointments, Schedule 3 activities and preventative healthcare services.

The role will also involve implementing clinical standards and operating procedures, improving practice processes and developing the nursing team. Weekend and hospital duties provide additional exposure to more complex cases and opportunities to work alongside the wider regional clinical team.

Team Size
The successful candidate will provide clinical leadership, inspiration and development to the nursing team while working closely with Veterinary Surgeons and support colleagues. They will also build relationships with colleagues at a nearby 24-hour hospital. Specific team numbers have not been provided.

Practice Details
The practice is being developed with a strong focus on high clinical standards, efficient processes, nurse-led services and preventative healthcare. Additional support and exposure to more complex cases are available through a nearby 24-hour hospital in Kensington.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be an RCVS Registered Veterinary Nurse who is organised, proactive and passionate about delivering excellent patient and client care. They should enjoy improving processes, developing nurse-led clinics and helping nursing colleagues reach their potential.

Previous leadership experience would be beneficial but is not essential. The position could also suit an experienced RVN ready to progress into leadership who is enthusiastic about helping shape a practice, establish a positive team culture and maintain high clinical standards.
