Job Description
Introduction
Our Client’s hospital is a well-established 24-hour GP hospital located in a highly desirable London setting, offering a broad and dynamic caseload. The hospital supports both its own first opinion clients and surrounding practices, providing a stimulating and progressive clinical environment with access to specialist services and advanced care.
Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time position with a varied rota, including a 1:4 weekend rotation with time off in lieu and 1–2 bank holidays per year. There are no on-call requirements.
Role Description
This is a comprehensive hospital nursing role where you will rotate through wards, theatre, and consults, gaining exposure to a wide range of cases including routine procedures, emergency and critical care. You will assist veterinary surgeons during procedures, manage inpatient care, maintain accurate clinical records, and provide clear discharge instructions to clients.
You will also play a role in maintaining high clinical and hygiene standards, ensuring equipment is properly handled and sterilised, and supporting a collaborative team environment. The role offers an excellent opportunity to expand your clinical knowledge, particularly in a hospital setting with exposure to advanced procedures such as laparoscopic surgery.
Team Size
You will be part of a large, experienced, and supportive team including veterinary surgeons, RVNs, trainee nurses, and on-site clinical management, all contributing to a collaborative and knowledge-rich environment.
Practice Details
The hospital is a fully equipped 24-hour veterinary facility offering first opinion, emergency, critical care, and referral services. It holds RCVS Hospital Accreditation and an ISFM Silver Award for Cat Friendly Clinics, reflecting its high clinical standards. The hospital supports a wide variety of cases and includes access to specialist services such as orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, dermatology, and physiotherapy. It is equipped for advanced procedures including laparoscopic surgery and provides a modern, well-resourced environment for both patients and staff. Located in a sought-after London village setting, the hospital also benefits from excellent transport links.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a Registered Veterinary Nurse with experience or a strong interest in hospital nursing. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment and be confident working across different clinical areas including wards, theatre, and consults. A proactive approach to patient care, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively within a large team are essential. This role would suit someone looking to expand their clinical knowledge and gain exposure to advanced procedures and a varied caseload.
