Job Description

Introduction

Our Client is a corporately owned practice that is looking for an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse to join their friendly and supportive team. This is an excellent opportunity for an RVN looking to develop their clinical skills and confidence within a busy, modern small animal practice that prides itself on delivering high standards of patient care while maintaining a positive and enjoyable working environment.

Working Hours / Rota

This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week, with a combination of early and late shifts. Weekend duties are shared on a 1 in 3 Saturday rota, with no out-of-hours responsibilities or overnight inpatient checks.

Role Description

The successful Registered Veterinary Nurse will enjoy a varied role involving nurse consultations, inpatient care and theatre work. Responsibilities include admitting patients, monitoring anaesthetics, assisting with surgical procedures, patient recovery and discharging patients.

The practice actively encourages nurses to utilise their full skill set, with opportunities to undertake Schedule 3 procedures where appropriate. Support is available from Veterinary Care Assistants and Student Veterinary Nurses, allowing the incoming RVN to focus on clinical responsibilities while continuing to develop their skills.

Team Size

The practice has a close-knit and supportive team of veterinary professionals, including Veterinary Surgeons, Registered Veterinary Nurses, Student Veterinary Nurses and Veterinary Care Assistants. The team works collaboratively to provide excellent patient care and maintains a friendly working atmosphere, with regular social events outside of work.

Practice Details & Equipment

The practice is a modern, purpose-built small animal surgery designed to high industry standards. Facilities include digital X-ray and in-house laboratory equipment, allowing the team to investigate and manage a varied clinical caseload.

The practice places a strong emphasis on professional development, with opportunities for nurses to develop their interests, undertake additional qualifications and gain further confidence across all aspects of veterinary nursing.

Ideal Candidate

Our Client is looking for an experienced, RCVS-registered Veterinary Nurse with strong all-round nursing skills and a proactive approach to patient care. The ideal candidate will be confident across consultations, inpatient care and theatre duties, with excellent communication skills and a genuine passion for animal welfare.

A friendly, collaborative attitude is essential, alongside enthusiasm for continued learning and professional development. The practice would particularly welcome an RVN who enjoys using their nursing skills to their full potential and contributing to a supportive team environment.
