Job Description

Introduction
Our Client is a corporately owned Hospital seeking a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join their team in a dedicated weekend-only role. This is an excellent opportunity for an RVN who enjoys a busy clinical environment and is passionate about delivering exceptional inpatient care during peak hours.

Rota Details
This is a weekend-only position, working an average of 20 hours per week across Saturdays and Sundays. There is flexibility to increase hours by mutual agreement. No on-call duties are required, thanks to the hospital’s 24-hour staffing model.

Information About the Practice
This busy, 24-hour hospital is accredited by the RCVS as a Small Animal General Practice and is an Approved Training Practice for veterinary nurses. It is also part of the VetGDP programme and actively supports professional development. Despite being in a peaceful, countryside setting, the hospital manages a varied and complex caseload from across the region, thanks to its strong clinical reputation.

Description of the Role
This is a hands-on role involving a wide range of nursing responsibilities during the hospital’s busiest times. Duties will include inpatient care, nurse consults, assisting in procedures, managing admissions and discharges, medication dispensing, lab testing, and ensuring a high standard of infection control. You’ll play a key part in coordinating the weekend workflow while maintaining accurate patient records and delivering high standards of clinical compliance.

The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a qualified RVN with at least two years’ post-registration experience, confident working both independently and within a team. Strong clinical, organisational, and communication skills are essential, along with a proactive, patient-focused approach. Previous experience in a hospital setting is desirable but not essential.

Practice Equipment List
The hospital includes separate dog and cat areas, an isolation unit, and is fully equipped for advanced diagnostics and treatment. Facilities include a modern lab suite, imaging equipment, surgical theatres, and dedicated spaces for patient monitoring and recovery.

Any Other Details
The hospital is located in a scenic rural setting close to national parks and the coastline, providing a peaceful working environment with access to outdoor recreation.
