Job Description
Introduction
Our Client’s practice is a purpose-built small animal practice located in the market town of Hertford, offering a welcoming and supportive environment for both clients and colleagues. The practice prides itself on maintaining a close-knit team culture where every team member is valued and encouraged to contribute meaningfully to patient care and the development of the practice.
The nursing team plays an integral role within the clinic and is actively involved across all areas of clinical work, including anaesthesia, inpatient care, theatre duties, laboratory work and nurse consultations. The practice encourages autonomy and professional growth while ensuring there is always a supportive team environment available.
The clinic benefits from a loyal and engaged client base and prioritises providing the team with the time needed to deliver high-quality patient care. Non-routine consultations are scheduled for 30 minutes, allowing a thorough and rewarding clinical approach.
Working Hours / Rota
The practice is happy to consider both full-time and part-time applications and places a strong emphasis on work-life balance and flexibility. There are no out of hours requirements and no Sunday work involved in the role. The weekend rota consists of 1 in 3 Saturdays working from 9am to 1pm, with either time off in lieu or additional pay provided.
Weekday shifts are either 8:45am to 5:15pm or 10:45am to 7:15pm, with a 30-minute lunch break included within each shift.
Role Description
This is a varied and rewarding Registered Veterinary Nurse position where the successful candidate will be involved across all aspects of veterinary nursing. Duties will include anaesthesia, inpatient care, theatre support, nurse consultations, laboratory work and client education.
The role offers excellent opportunities for continued learning and professional development, with exposure to visiting specialists in cardiology, diagnostic imaging and orthopaedics. Nurses are encouraged to develop their own interests and shape their responsibilities around their strengths and career ambitions while working within a collaborative and supportive environment.
Team Size
The practice team consists of 2 Veterinary Surgeons, a Head Nurse and a small non-clinical support team. The clinic maintains a collaborative and friendly atmosphere where teamwork and communication are highly valued, helping to create a positive and enjoyable working environment.
Practice Details
The purpose-built practice provides a calm and welcoming environment and is equipped to deliver a high standard of patient care. Facilities include separate cat and dog wards, an isolation unit and a sterile theatre.
The practice regularly works alongside visiting specialists in cardiology, diagnostic imaging and orthopaedics, providing excellent clinical exposure and learning opportunities for the wider team.

The ideal candidate will be a qualified Registered Veterinary Nurse who enjoys working as part of a close and supportive team while delivering compassionate and high-quality patient care.
