Job Description
Introduction
Our Client is an independently owned practice/hospital and operates a well-established, community-focused small animal practice based in Barnsley. The practice has a friendly, close-knit team and a strong reputation locally for delivering high-quality veterinary care. This is an excellent opportunity for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join a growing team that values collaboration, continuous learning, and exceptional patient and client care. Both full-time and part-time applications are welcomed.
Working Hours / Rota
This role is based on four nine-hour days per week. The rota includes one in four weekends and duty nights covered on a rotational basis. Flexible working options, including part-time hours, can be discussed to suit individual circumstances.
Role Description
The Registered Veterinary Nurse will be involved in all aspects of small animal nursing, supporting a varied and interesting caseload. You will work closely with Veterinary Surgeons, fellow nurses, and support staff to deliver gold-standard patient care, support clinical procedures, and contribute to a positive client experience. The role offers excellent scope for professional development, with opportunities to expand skills across areas such as exotics, dentistry, and behaviour, supported by an in-house RVN and Pet Behaviourist.
Team Size
You will join a friendly and supportive multidisciplinary team made up of Veterinary Surgeons, Registered Veterinary Nurses, students, Veterinary Care Assistants, and an experienced reception team. The practice has a strong track record of supporting student nurses through training, with many remaining as permanent team members after qualification.
Practice Details
The practice is purpose-built and designed to provide a welcoming, local neighbourhood feel. It is well equipped to support a wide range of clinical interests and actively engages with the local community through events, fundraising, and educational initiatives. The environment promotes teamwork, learning, and continuous improvement, with CPD encouraged at all levels.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be an RCVS-registered Veterinary Nurse who is enthusiastic, proactive, and a strong team player. You will have excellent communication skills, enjoy working across a varied caseload, and be keen to develop professionally within a supportive environment. A passion for continuous learning and high standards of patient and client care is essential.
