Job Description

Introduction
Our Client is seeking an experienced and motivated Equine & Farm Clinical Director to lead and develop their Equine and Farm department in Scotland.

This is a rare opportunity to combine hands-on clinical work with strategic leadership in a well-established, multi-branch mixed practice serving Dundee, Tayside, Angus and Fife. The role offers genuine autonomy, strong structural support and the ability to influence the future direction of a thriving department.

Working Hours / Rota
The rota operates on a 1 in 5 on-call basis.

Work–life balance is embedded into the structure, including protected time off after nights, a half-day each week, and the Monday off following a weekend on-call. Flexible working options are openly discussed and supported.

Role Description
You will lead and mentor a team of 4–5 Equine & Farm Veterinary Surgeons, driving clinical standards and business development within the department.

Working closely with the three Small Animal Clinical Directors and the Practice Manager, you will contribute to wider leadership across the practice while maintaining autonomy within your department.

The role combines clinical caseload with strategic oversight, allowing you to shape services, expand offerings and foster a positive, forward-thinking culture where colleagues can thrive.

Practice Details
The practice is progressive and collaborative, with strong investment in facilities and team wellbeing.

Facilities include equine stables and stocks across two sites, in-house laboratory, mobile digital radiography, equine ultrasound, respiratory endoscopy and access to visiting specialists for advanced procedures.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Equine & Farm Veterinary Surgeon with strong leadership qualities and a passion for team development.

You will demonstrate the ability to mentor colleagues, drive service quality and contribute strategically to business growth. A collaborative mindset, excellent communication skills and a desire to shape the future of the department are essential.
