Introduction
Our Client’s practice is a long-established and highly regarded veterinary group with over 65 years of experience, operating across multiple sites in Devon and Cornwall. With a strong reputation for clinical excellence across both small animal and farm work, the practice offers a supportive, progressive environment set within a desirable coastal and countryside location.

Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time position working a 4.5-day week, with flexibility available. Standard hours are 08:30 – 17:30 with a one-hour lunch break. The role includes a 1:6 Saturday morning rota (moving to 1:7) with time off in lieu provided. There is no emergency out-of-hours requirement, although inpatient care is retained on-site with overnight nursing support and a vet on-call for inpatients only.

Role Description
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to step into a Clinical Director role, combining clinical work with leadership responsibilities.

You will lead a team of 7 Veterinary Surgeons, ensuring high standards of clinical care, compliance, and client experience. The role includes both clinical and non-clinical time, allowing you to remain hands-on while contributing to the strategic direction and operational leadership of the practice.

You will work closely with the Practice Manager and Head Nurse to foster a positive and forward-thinking culture, support performance management, and lead case quality reviews. The role also involves mentoring team members, encouraging development, and maintaining a collaborative and supportive working environment.

Team Size
You will lead a team of 7 Veterinary Surgeons, supported by a highly skilled nursing and support team, within a friendly and sociable practice culture.

Practice Details
The practice operates across three small animal sites, all equipped with operating facilities. It offers a wide range of medical and surgical services, supported by diagnostic imaging capabilities including dental radiography and in-house cardiac and abdominal scans. The practice benefits from a visiting orthopaedic specialist and encourages clinical development, with certificates and special interests actively supported. Regular clinical meetings and strong team engagement contribute to a high standard of care.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Veterinary Surgeon with strong leadership or mentorship experience. You will be confident, driven, and passionate about delivering outstanding patient care and leading a team.

You will possess excellent communication skills, a collaborative approach, and the ability to inspire and develop others. A commitment to clinical excellence, continuous development, and maintaining high standards across the practice is essential.
