Job Description

Introduction
Our Client is a corporately owned practice seeking a Student Veterinary Nurse (SVN) to join their friendly and supportive team at their branch in South West London. This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring nurse to train within a modern, well-equipped environment, surrounded by experienced clinicians and a team who will guide and support you every step of the way.

Working Hours / Rota
The position is based on a full-time rota aligned with your nursing course requirements. You will work alongside qualified Registered Veterinary Nurses, Veterinary Surgeons, and Patient Care Assistants, ensuring you gain hands-on experience in all aspects of small animal nursing.

Role Description
As a Student Veterinary Nurse, you will assist the clinical team in delivering exceptional patient and client care. You’ll take part in nurse-led consults under supervision, support during surgical procedures, and provide day-to-day care for inpatients. You’ll also be responsible for maintaining accurate clinical records, preparing for procedures, assisting with sample collection, and ensuring high standards of cleanliness and compliance throughout the practice.
This role provides a varied caseload and a supportive learning environment, helping you to build confidence and clinical skills as you progress through your training.

Team Size
The team consists of Veterinary Surgeons, Registered Veterinary Nurses, Student Nurses, and Patient Care Assistants. You’ll be supported by a Lead Vet and Practice Manager who are committed to fostering your professional growth and ensuring you gain well-rounded experience across all areas of nursing.

Practice Details
The practice is a modern, purpose-built practice featuring three consultation rooms, two theatres, and separate cat and dog waiting areas and kennels. The practice is equipped with digital and dental X-ray, ultrasound, ECG, blood pressure monitors, tonometer, and full in-house laboratory. The clinic is conveniently located near Battersea Park, with excellent transport links and a vibrant local community.

The Ideal Candidate
You must be enrolled as a Student Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS and registered on an approved training course. You will be a motivated, compassionate individual with a genuine passion for animal care, strong teamwork skills, and a proactive approach to learning. Excellent communication and organisational skills are essential, along with the ability to follow clinical guidance and maintain attention to detail in all aspects of patient care.
