Job Description
Introduction
Our Client’s hospital is a busy and well-equipped veterinary facility in Saffron Walden, providing high standards of inpatient, emergency, and critical care. The hospital prides itself on delivering exceptional patient care within a supportive and experienced team environment.
Working Hours / Rota
This is a night role working on a rolling rota of 6 nights on and 6 nights off, offering excellent work-life balance and the ability to plan well in advance. Weekday shifts are 8pm – 8am, with weekend shifts between 7pm – 8am. There is also the opportunity to pick up additional hours if desired.
Role Description
This is a fantastic opportunity for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to take on a night position caring for overnight inpatients in a busy hospital setting.
You will be responsible for monitoring and caring for critical inpatients, ensuring high standards of nursing care throughout the night. This is a sole charge role, requiring confidence and autonomy, with veterinary support available off-site when needed.
The role offers a varied caseload and the chance to further develop your skills in emergency and critical care nursing. You will also maintain accurate patient records and ensure all clinical standards are upheld consistently.
Team Size
You will be joining an experienced and supportive team of 14 nurses and 10 veterinary surgeons, with a strong focus on collaboration and professional development.
Practice Details
The hospital is fully equipped with modern facilities including separate dog and cat wards, an in-house laboratory, modern theatre, and imaging capabilities. It also offers orthopaedic equipment and endoscopy, supporting a wide range of medical and surgical cases. The practice maintains high clinical standards and encourages continued learning and development across the team.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a Registered Veterinary Nurse with experience or a strong interest in emergency and critical care. Previous experience with critical inpatients is preferred due to the sole charge nature of the role.
You will be confident, proactive, and able to work independently, with strong clinical and organisational skills. A commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care and a willingness to continue learning and developing professionally are essential.
