Job Description
Introduction
Our Client’s hospital is looking for a Lead Night Veterinary Surgeon to join its friendly and experienced team in Kensington, London.
This is a modern, well-equipped 24-hour veterinary hospital committed to providing high-quality, honest and good-value veterinary care for pets both day and night. The hospital offers excellent case continuity, with shared practice software allowing access to patient history at all times.
This is an exciting opportunity for a vet with a passion for emergency and critical care who thrives in a gold-standard clinical environment and enjoys delivering exceptional patient and client care overnight.
Working Hours / Rota
This is a permanent full-time role working a night rota pattern of 7 nights on, followed by 14 nights off.
Shifts run Monday to Sunday, from 7pm to 9am. Weekends and Bank Holidays are included where they fall within the scheduled week of nights.
Role Description
The Lead Night Veterinary Surgeon will be responsible for delivering exceptional clinical care to patients during overnight consultations and procedures, with a strong focus on emergency and critical care.
The role includes providing clear and supportive updates to clients, creating accurate treatment and care plans, giving clear cost estimates, completing clinical handovers, and arranging transfers for patients requiring further enhanced care.
There is also a leadership element to the position, with responsibility for mentoring and developing the team, supporting clinical best practice, encouraging a progressive clinical culture, and helping colleagues use their skills effectively. The successful candidate will also contribute to high standards of regulatory, practice and operational compliance.

You will be joining a friendly and experienced hospital team with the support of a wider connected veterinary network. The role requires strong teamwork, clinical leadership, mentoring skills, and the ability to support colleagues across the hospital and wider clinical community.

This is a modern and well-equipped 24-hour veterinary hospital in the heart of London, offering care both during the day and overnight.

The wider group includes 24-hour veterinary centres and referral centres, offering access to excellent treatment options, clinical support and career development opportunities.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be an RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon with a passion for emergency and critical care.
They will be experienced in delivering exceptional care to both patients and clients, confident working effectively as part of a team, and able to demonstrate clinical leadership skills.
The successful candidate will be comfortable implementing a progressive clinical culture, supporting nurse consults and Schedule 3 procedures, and using coaching and influencing skills to get the best out of every colleague.
The successful candidate will care deeply about patient outcomes and customer experience, enjoy working collaboratively, communicate clearly and empathetically, and remain organised, proactive and calm under pressure. They will also be motivated by the opportunity to help build something new from the very beginning.
