Introduction
Our Client’s hospital is seeking a Veterinary Surgeon who thrives in the fast-paced world of ECC and is excited to be part of its night service in Barnsley. The hospital offers affordable out-of-hours care through a transparent pricing structure, with strong support from first-opinion and referral services during the day to ensure excellent continuity of care and clinical backup.

Working Hours / Rota
This is a night role working a 7:14 rota, offering an average of 28 hours per week and supporting a strong work-life balance. Shift times are 6:30pm to 7:30am. The role is focused on night ECC work, with close collaboration alongside the day team. No separate out-of-hours duties are stated beyond the night rota itself.

Role Description
This role is ideal for a Veterinary Surgeon with a passion for ECC who enjoys working in a busy and varied clinical environment. The caseload includes a broad mix of medical and surgical cases, including in-house orthopaedic procedures. The night team also benefits from recently introduced nurse-led overnight care for stable inpatients, helping to ensure comfort and monitoring throughout the night. This is a great opportunity for someone eager to strengthen their ECC skills, develop technically, and contribute meaningfully to patient care within a collaborative team.

Team Size
The hospital works as a supportive and inclusive multi-talented team, with close integration between the night service, day team, first-opinion service, and referral support. The culture is intentionally non-hierarchical, encouraging contribution from every team member.

Practice Details
The hospital features 10 modern consulting rooms and 4 theatres, along with dedicated X-ray and dental suites. There are separate dog and cat wards to support patient wellbeing. The caseload is wide-ranging, covering both medical and surgical cases, including orthopaedics. The organisation is also a non-profit Community Interest Company with a strong social mission focused on making veterinary treatment more accessible and affordable.
