Job Description

Introduction
Our Client is a corporately owned small animal practice in Torquay looking for an experienced Lead Veterinary Surgeon to join its team. This is an opportunity to combine hands-on clinical work with leadership responsibilities, helping to shape the continued development of the practice and its clinical team.

Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time position. Specific working hours, weekend rota and out-of-hours requirements have not been provided and can be discussed during the recruitment process.

Role Description
The Lead Veterinary Surgeon will remain actively involved in consultations and surgery while taking a key role in supporting colleagues and helping the wider practice develop. Responsibilities will include delivering high-quality clinical care, developing tailored treatment plans and maintaining strong regulatory and operational standards.

Alongside clinical responsibilities, the successful candidate will help support and develop colleagues, share their experience and contribute to the direction and day-to-day success of the practice. The position can suit either an established Lead Vet or an experienced Veterinary Surgeon looking to progress into their first formal leadership position.

Team Size
The successful candidate will join an established and collaborative veterinary team, with responsibility for supporting colleagues and helping the wider team thrive. Specific team numbers have not been provided.

Practice Details
The practice is based in the coastal town of Torquay and provides small animal veterinary care with a strong focus on clinical excellence, collaboration and patient care. The team also benefits from access to wider clinical communities, internal CPD and 24-hour hospital support across the broader veterinary group.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be an experienced, qualified MRCVS who is confident with both consultations and surgery and passionate about maintaining high standards of patient and client care.

Previous leadership experience would be welcomed but is not essential. The role can also suit an experienced Veterinary Surgeon ready to progress into leadership, with strong communication, teamwork and mentoring skills and an interest in helping shape the future development of the practice.
