Job Description
Introduction
Our Client is a corporately owned practice seeking a Lead Veterinary Surgeon to join their team in Tamworth at an exciting period of refurbishment and rebranding.
This is a rare opportunity to take on a true clinical leadership role with real autonomy, shaping the future direction of the practice while focusing primarily on clinical excellence. You will be supported by experienced practice owners, a skilled Practice Manager and a strong, established clinical team.
Working Hours / Rota
This role is based on a 4-day working week with 1 in 3 Saturdays.
There are no Sundays and no out-of-hours requirements, supporting a healthy work–life balance.
Role Description
As Lead Veterinary Surgeon, you will provide clinical leadership while remaining hands-on in practice. You will mentor junior Veterinary Surgeons, support the development of more complex case management and work collaboratively with the Practice Owners and Practice Manager to drive clinical standards and performance.
The role offers genuine autonomy, allowing you to introduce innovative ideas and shape service delivery while maintaining a strong focus on patient and client care.
There is potential for partnership for the right candidate, providing a pathway towards practice ownership.
Team Size
You will work alongside 4 Veterinary Surgeons, 6 Nurses, 3 Receptionists and 2 Practice Managers, led clinically by an experienced partner with 20 years of qualification experience.
The practice benefits from a stable team, with several members having been with the practice for over 20 years, fostering a supportive and collaborative culture.
Practice Details
The practice is modern, spacious and air-conditioned, equipped with high-end diagnostic and surgical equipment. A major refurbishment and rebranding project is due to begin, further enhancing facilities and creating an exciting future direction for the business.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Veterinary Surgeon with leadership experience or a strong desire to step into a clinical leadership role.
You will be confident managing more complex cases, mentoring junior colleagues and contributing strategically to the ongoing development of the practice.
Strong communication skills, a collaborative approach and a commitment to high clinical standards are essential.
