Our Client is an independent veterinary charity seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon Team Leader to join their busy hospital in Swansea. This is an exciting opportunity for a confident veterinary surgeon with a passion for surgery and clinical leadership to guide an experienced team while delivering high-quality care to pets and owners. Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time position working 37.5 hours per week, including one dedicated office day. The hospital operates between 8:00am and 6:00pm Monday to Friday, and 8:00am to 12:00pm on Saturdays. The role includes participation in a shared Saturday morning rota with time off in lieu, while out-of-hours commitments are limited to emergency work only.

Role Description
As Veterinary Surgeon Team Leader, you will provide clinical leadership while maintaining a varied caseload with a strong surgical focus. You will oversee clinical governance, support evidence-based decision making, and ensure the delivery of exceptional patient and client care. Alongside consultations and surgery, you will recruit, mentor, coach and develop the veterinary team, encourage continuous clinical improvement, and work collaboratively to maintain high standards across the hospital. The role offers excellent opportunities to further develop surgical leadership while working alongside experienced clinicians with diverse clinical interests.

Practice Details & Equipment
The hospital is a modern, well-equipped facility featuring digital radiography, ultrasound, dental equipment, in-house laboratory analysers, two operating theatres, dedicated dog and cat wards, an isolation unit, and four consultation rooms, including a dedicated nurse consultation room. The surgical caseload is varied and includes orthopaedic procedures such as fracture repairs, plating, external fixation, patella surgery, French Bulldog elbow procedures, and femoral head and neck excisions, providing excellent opportunities for experienced surgeons to further develop their skills.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a qualified MRCVS Veterinary Surgeon with previous leadership experience and a strong interest in surgery. You will be confident leading and mentoring colleagues, committed to evidence-based clinical decision making, and passionate about delivering outstanding patient and client care. Excellent communication, coaching, and organisational skills are essential, along with the ability to inspire and develop a collaborative veterinary team.
