Job Description
Introduction
Our Client is a well-established small animal practice located in the heart of Salisbury, Wiltshire, adjacent to the historic Salisbury Cathedral. With a loyal client base built over 20 years and a strong surgical demand, the practice offers a busy and rewarding caseload within a vibrant medieval city setting.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon ready to step into a Lead Vet position within a supportive and progressive clinical environment.
Working Hours / Rota
This is a permanent full-time role working a 4-day week with consistent days off. The rota includes 1 in 3 Saturday shifts.
Role Description
As Lead Veterinary Surgeon, you will take responsibility for the clinical leadership of the veterinary team, ensuring the delivery of exceptional standards of patient and client care. You will oversee consultations and surgical procedures, prepare detailed treatment plans with clear cost estimates, and maintain compliance with regulatory and operational standards.
You will work closely with the Practice Manager to support the commercial performance of the clinic while fostering a progressive clinical culture. Mentoring, coaching, and developing colleagues will form a key part of your role, alongside promoting clinical best practice across the wider network.
The practice manages a busy caseload with high surgical demand, providing an engaging and professionally rewarding environment.
Team Size
You will work alongside an established Nursing and Reception team within a supportive branch environment, contributing to a collaborative and high-performing clinical team.
Practice Details
The practice features three modern consultation rooms, a dedicated theatre, dental and digital x-ray facilities, ultrasound, a K-laser, and an on-site pharmacy.
Located just a 10-minute walk from Salisbury city centre and close to the countryside and Stonehenge, the practice offers an exceptional work–life balance within a picturesque setting.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon with proven clinical leadership experience. You will be confident in consultations and surgery, demonstrate strong communication skills, and have experience implementing and maintaining high clinical standards.
Experience supporting nurse consults and Schedule 3 procedures, mentoring colleagues, and fostering a progressive clinical culture is essential. You will combine clinical excellence with strong leadership and organisational skills.
