Introduction
Our Client is an independent, family-owned veterinary practice seeking a Deputy Head Veterinary Surgeon to join their modern, purpose-built practice. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon looking to take the next step into leadership or for an existing clinical leader seeking a new challenge. The role combines a varied first opinion caseload with the opportunity to mentor colleagues, support clinical excellence, and help shape the future direction of a thriving practice.

Working Hours / Rota
The ideal rota is four set days per week with participation in a 1 in 4 weekend rota. Flexible working options are available and alternative working patterns can be discussed to accommodate individual requirements.

Role Description
Working alongside the Head Veterinary Surgeon, you will deliver exceptional preventative, medical, and surgical care while supporting the clinical leadership of the practice. You will help maintain high clinical standards, mentor and develop veterinary colleagues, provide guidance on clinical cases, and contribute to the ongoing growth and success of the practice. This role offers an excellent balance of hands-on clinical work and leadership responsibilities, making it ideal for someone looking to further develop their management and mentoring skills while remaining actively involved in patient care.

Team Size
You will become part of a talented multidisciplinary team with a wide range of clinical interests. The practice promotes a collaborative culture where knowledge sharing, mentoring, and continuous professional development are encouraged, with many team members undertaking postgraduate certificates.

Practice Details & Equipment
The practice is a purpose-built, modern veterinary facility featuring nine consultation rooms, four operating theatres, a dedicated dental suite, an ultrasound suite, a CT imaging suite housing a 128-slice CT scanner, two dog wards, two cat wards, and two preparation areas. The excellent facilities support a varied caseload and provide an outstanding environment for delivering high-quality patient care.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a qualified MRCVS Veterinary Surgeon with at least three years of UK first opinion experience. You will be passionate about delivering exceptional clinical care, confident supporting and mentoring colleagues, and keen to play an active role in clinical leadership. Excellent communication, organisational, and teamwork skills are essential, along with a commitment to continuous improvement and the ambition to help develop both the practice and those around you.
