This is an excellent opportunity to step into a leadership role within a close-knit team, where you can influence clinical standards and contribute to the ongoing development of the practice while maintaining a strong work–life balance.

Working Hours / Rota
This is a part-time position working 3 days per week, offering an excellent balance between professional responsibility and personal time. The role includes a light rota with 1 in 3 Sundays, approximately 2 weeks of on-call duties per year, and only 2 bank holidays annually. The structured rota ensures a sustainable workload while still providing exposure to a varied caseload.

Role Description
As Lead Veterinary Surgeon, you will take responsibility for delivering high-quality clinical care through consultations and surgical procedures while maintaining excellent clinical standards. This is a sole-charge position where you will lead and inspire a small team, contribute to the strategic and clinical direction of the practice, and support team development. You will manage a varied caseload of routine and general practice cases, with access to referral support from a nearby 24-hour hospital for more complex cases. The role also provides opportunities for continued professional development and leadership growth.

Team Size
You will lead a small, dedicated team consisting of one experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse and one Veterinary Care Assistant, both committed to delivering excellent patient and client care.

Practice Details
The practice is modern and well-equipped, featuring two consult rooms, a dedicated operating theatre, and digital x-ray and dental facilities. It benefits from close proximity to a 24-hour hospital, ensuring access to advanced care and support when required.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a qualified MRCVS Veterinary Surgeon with strong clinical skills and a passion for delivering excellent patient and client care. They will be confident working in a sole-charge environment and ready to step into a leadership role, either with previous experience or looking to take the next step in their career. Strong communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to inspire and support colleagues are essential, along with a proactive approach to developing both the team and the practice.
