Job Description

Introduction
Our Client is an independent practice seeking a full-time Veterinary Surgeon to join their well-established, progressive team. The practice is committed to delivering high standards of patient care and client service, providing a personalised approach to every pet and owner.

Rota Details
This full-time role offers flexibility, with 4-day weeks considered, 1:3 Saturdays worked with a day off in lieu, no OOHs, and protected time for morning and afternoon ward rounds. Staff also benefit from a 1-hour lunch break and scheduled consultation and surgery times.

Information About the Practice
The practice is a supportive, client-focused independent clinic with a team committed to professional, compassionate care. It is an ISFM Gold Standard Cat Friendly Clinic and Dogs Trust Dog Friendly, with a no-scruff, minimal restraint policy. The practice has strong links with visiting specialists in cardiology and imaging and refers to leading specialist centres for complex cases. Practice memberships include BVA, ISFM, SPVS, and BVRA.

Description of the Role
The Veterinary Surgeon will provide high-quality small animal care, including consultations, routine surgery, medicine, occasional sole charge, and emergency work. The role involves dedicated time for client communication, lab result discussions, and ongoing care planning, alongside scheduled surgical procedures and ward rounds. The successful candidate will work collaboratively within a supportive team environment.

Ideal Candidate
The practice is seeking a Vet with at least 3 years’ UK small animal experience, who is confident in routine surgery and medicine, capable of occasional sole charge and emergency work, and passionate about delivering holistic, empathetic care. The ideal candidate will be collaborative, supportive of colleagues, and committed to the practice’s ethos of personalised, professional care.

Practice Equipment
The practice is equipped with digital CR dental radiography, a separate dental suite, a full in-house IDEXX laboratory, ultrasound, endoscopy and bronchoscopy, multi-parameter monitoring, tonometry, and a fully equipped theatre suite. There are four consulting rooms, two for cats and small furries and two for dog, with separate entrances, receptions, consulting areas, and wards. RxWorks practice management software is used, and a dedicated quiet room is available for end-of-life discussions and care.
