Job Description

Introduction
Our client is seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to take the next step in their career as Lead Vet. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated clinician to combine hands-on veterinary work with leadership responsibilities, guiding a supportive team while shaping the future direction of the practice.

The clinic has a strong reputation within the local community and benefits from a loyal client base and varied caseload, making it an ideal setting for a Veterinary Surgeon who enjoys both clinical excellence and team development.

Working Hours / Rota
This is a permanent full-time position working a four-day week from 9:00am to 7:00pm with a one-hour lunch break.

The role also includes participation in the weekend rota, which is currently 1 in 6 full weekends.

Practice Environment
The practice is a purpose-built clinic offering a welcoming and professional environment for both clients and team members.

Facilities include digital X-ray, ultrasound, dental equipment and an in-house laboratory, allowing for a broad and varied caseload. The practice is supported by an experienced nursing and reception team, creating a collaborative and efficient working environment.

There is also access to additional facilities and specialist support through nearby 24-hour hospitals, enabling referral for more complex cases and providing opportunities for continued clinical development.

Role Description
As Lead Veterinary Surgeon, you will be responsible for the clinical leadership of the veterinary team while maintaining a strong focus on delivering exceptional patient and client care.

Your role will include consultations, surgical procedures, diagnostics and case management while ensuring compliance with clinical standards and regulatory requirements. You will work closely with the Practice Manager to support the operational performance and continued growth of the clinic.

In addition to your clinical responsibilities, you will mentor and support colleagues, helping to develop the skills of the veterinary team while promoting a culture of collaboration and clinical excellence.

This role provides the opportunity to influence clinical standards and contribute to the strategic development of the practice, making it ideal for a Veterinary Surgeon looking to progress into a leadership position.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a qualified Veterinary Surgeon registered with the RCVS and have a minimum of four years’ UK small animal practice experience.

Applicants should be confident in routine surgery, diagnostics and case management, and demonstrate strong communication and leadership skills. A passion for mentoring colleagues, delivering high-quality veterinary care and driving clinical standards will be essential.

This role is well suited to an experienced Veterinary Surgeon who is ready to lead, develop and inspire a team while continuing to grow their own clinical and leadership capabilities.
