Job Description

Introduction
Our Client is an independent veterinary charity seeking a Veterinary Surgeon Team Leader to join their collaborative hospital team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced veterinary surgeon with a passion for surgery and clinical leadership to lead an established team while delivering outstanding patient care. The role combines a varied surgical caseload with leadership responsibilities, offering the chance to influence clinical standards, mentor colleagues, and contribute to the continued success of a modern veterinary hospital.

Working Hours / Rota
This is a permanent position with flexible working arrangements available, and part-time hours will be considered for the right candidate. Working patterns can be discussed during the recruitment process to support an excellent work-life balance.

Role Description
As Veterinary Surgeon Team Leader, you will take responsibility for clinical governance while leading the veterinary team in delivering high-quality patient and client care. Alongside managing a surgically biased caseload, you will support evidence-based clinical decision making, develop practical treatment plans, and provide leadership across all aspects of the veterinary team. Your responsibilities will include recruitment, coaching, mentoring, and developing colleagues while promoting a collaborative culture and maintaining the highest clinical standards throughout the hospital.

Team Size
You will join a highly collaborative and experienced hospital team where veterinary surgeons, nurses, and support colleagues work closely together to discuss cases, share clinical knowledge, and deliver exceptional patient care. The team encourages continuous learning, mentorship, and professional development across all clinical disciplines.

Practice Details & Equipment
The hospital is a modern, well-equipped facility offering separate dog and cat wards, digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, piped gases, extensive orthopaedic equipment, and in-house diagnostic facilities. The varied caseload and collaborative clinical environment provide excellent opportunities to manage both routine and advanced medical and surgical cases while working alongside experienced clinicians.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a qualified MRCVS Veterinary Surgeon with previous leadership experience and a strong interest in surgery. You will be confident leading and developing veterinary teams, committed to evidence-based clinical practice, and passionate about delivering exceptional patient and client care. Excellent communication, coaching, and organisational skills are essential, along with the ability to inspire colleagues and maintain high standards of clinical governance within a supportive team environment.
